Everything in Dubai is bigger and better than anywhere else in the world. It's almost like the city is on steroids... the cars are bigger, the buildings are bigger and by all accounts the budgets are bigger! Case and point.... my first event for my new client.

On Monday evening I was lucky enough to be a part of Dubai's first 'Dinner in the sky." The concept is basically a specially constructed table that was shipped in from Germany and then lifted 50 metres in the air by a crane. Dinner guests are strapped into specially designed seats, much like a rollercoaster, and you dangle around the table to enjoy a meal. 

I can't imagine how much this launch cost, which included shipping the table in from Germany, and i definately can't imagine trying to convince a client back in Australia to do it. Needless to say, being a first in Dubai, the launch was a brilliant success with copious amounts of front page and TV coverage... well one would think so!

And while we're on the subject.... quote of the week.... well possibly quote of the year came through a colleagues friend who was over from London presenting a business plan to a local company. When he gets to the budget section, he approaches it in the same way he would in London justifying the cost lines and asking if it’s in line with client total.

Classic reply: ‘Do not worry, we have more money than God’
